End of term

Ah, end of term one, honours year. Feels good! :) This past week has been really crazy. Three essays, two exams and one program to finish. Glad it’s all over.

So I found out that a bunch of my old friends just graduated. I can’t believe it. I always used to be ahead because of the UK’s September-May academic year, too. :P Congratulations you guys! What are you going to do next? Look for jobs? Anyone going to do masters courses? I know some of you Singaporeans still have to start NS so good luck with that lol. <_<; Lydon already finished his. I wonder what course he’s going to take for uni.

It really doesn’t feel like it’s been three years since we finished high school. Crazy how time flies.

So I went out to town to print my air ticket in the library and to buy a few things, and I had walked about 20 minutes and was nearly at the uni when I realised I had forgotten my wallet and mobile. LOL seriously annoying. So I trekked in and out of town twice for a total of ~80 minutes of walking. I was damn tired to say the least. :) Fortunately my beanbag saved me when I got home.

Anyway I’m packing my luggage because I’m flying off back to Malaysia tomorrow. :) It’s 14 hours in transit, heh. Fortunately I have my DS Lite and MP3 player to keep my occupied, as well as a couple of good books on my reading list. I expect to do a lot of labyrinth runs in Etrian Odyssey 2 on the plane.

Can’t wait to meet everyone in Singapore! I know Ron’s gone home to Jakarta, but I’ll be seeing everyone else ASAP. I think Luwa, Kevin, Lydon and Nick are all in town. Are any of the girls around? Would be nice to catch up with them too, after all this time. We could still do chalet again if we have time! :P

Meeting you guys will have to wait until after Christmas; I have my uncle and his family over for Christmas. It’s going to be a little crazy with their little kids running around the house lol. :) Good to receive all the energy though!

I seriously miss all the stuff in Singapore, so I’m going to be doing a little touring around Orchard. I’m in dire need of some good dim sum, maybe some chicken rice too. +_+ Maybe we could all go to CafĂ© Cartel again (if we can afford it lol :P).

Really looking forward to going back. Anyway, back to packing for me. Write again soon!

Shopping, honours project, weird sleeping times

Yesterday after class I went out to Iceland, this little supermarket in the Wellgate, with Ice. I’d never been there before because I never noticed it, but it’s a good alternative to Tesco. Lots of variety there, for sure. I got a pack of milk chocolate digestives and a bottle of tomato ketchup. I’ll have to go back there and look around another time. The ice cream tubs looked tempting! There was a big tub of thin mint ice cream, which is my favourite flavour. :9

After Ice and I parted ways in front of his place, I went down to HMV and bought a couple of CDs. I’ve really gotten in to jazz the past few months and I’m always on the lookout for more of it. I bought Careless Love by Madeleine Peyroux and Then & Now: The Definitive Herbie Hancock. I adore Peyroux’s CD; in particular Don’t Wait Too Long, it’s so refreshing. The Herbie Hancock CD is excellent as well and I’m considering getting River: The Joni Letters now. I didn’t realise his career went back so far and that I’ve heard a fair few of his songs before.

I then went to Tesco to buy some lunch (a chicken and bacon pasta, an all-day breakfast sandwich for later, and a tropical fruit juice) and then headed down to the BSM office to check on how many hours I have booked for my driving lessons. My instructor says when I get back from my Christmas vacation we should book my practical driving test already. It’s pretty exciting, really.

Once I got home I called my brother and mum over Skype and then had a nap - which lasted about 5 hours! When I woke up at around 6pm I did a little reading for my honours project and began writing my project proposal. There’s plenty to write and I have loads of sources; I’m going to have to cut down and simplify. You might notice my honours project blog hasn’t been updated in a while, but I’ve been keeping a paper log of my activity so far and I’ll update it with that info later.

I ended up sleeping around 5am this morning and woke up at about 10am. My internal clock is really out of sync with the day, but I think it’s alright. I tend to work better during the night because there are fewer distractions. In my flat I can hear straight out onto the road and it can be a bit bothersome sometimes.

In about half an hour I’ll be leaving to go to a meeting with my honours project supervisor and after that I have my final driving lesson for this term. :)

An arrangement of the Odin Sphere theme song. This song is absolutely beautiful, one of my favourites from any game. About 2:20, a Celtic part starts which is stunning.

This is P!nk performing “The One That Got Away” on her I’m Not Dead 2007 tour. I was surprised by how un-pop she is live! I like her sense of humour. She has a perfect on-stage voice too, something which is so rare today.
